Hi, I'm Thomas Snyder, founder of Junk On Call. My journey into the junk removal business didn't start with trucks and dumpsters—it started as a trusted Pennsylvania realtor.
For years, I worked in real estate throughout Central PA—Lancaster, York, Dauphin, Berks, and Lebanon Counties—helping clients prepare their homes for sale. Time and again, I watched frustrated sellers struggle with the same problem: getting rid of years of accumulated stuff quickly. We'd call the big national junk removal franchises, only to be told they couldn't come for 3-5 days—or sometimes a full week.
In real estate, timing is everything. A delayed cleanout meant delayed photos, delayed listings, and lost opportunities. I saw firsthand how these national brands, locked into rigid corporate scheduling systems and stretched thin across massive territories, simply couldn't provide the fast, flexible, local service that Central Pennsylvania homeowners and businesses desperately needed.
That's when the idea hit me: What if we built a junk removal company the way it should be built—locally, with deep community roots, and a genuine commitment to same-day service?
In 2019, Junk On Call was born right here in Lancaster County. We started with one truck, a commitment to show up fast, and a promise to treat every customer like a neighbor—because they are. No corporate bureaucracy, no week-long waits, just honest, hardworking service from people who actually live here.
Today, we've helped over 1,000 families and businesses across Lancaster, York, Dauphin, Berks, and Lebanon Counties reclaim their space. And in 2024, we began franchising—not to become another faceless national chain, but to help passionate entrepreneurs build the same locally-rooted, customer-first businesses in their own communities.
Our Journey
From a spray-painted truck to Central PA's trusted junk removal service
The Dream Begins
Started with a $1,200 F250 truck and spray-painted "JUNK ON CALL" on the sides. While still doing real estate listings and showings, Thomas began hauling junk for frustrated homeowners who couldn't wait a week for the national brands.
COVID Growth
While COVID was tough for most businesses, Junk On Call scaled and flourished. With everyone home doing projects, demand exploded. We bought our first real professionally-wrapped truck and hired our first employees.
Expanding Into Dumpsters
Added dumpster rentals and light demolition services. Expanded coverage to York, Dauphin, Berks, and Lebanon Counties. Served our 500th customer and built a reputation for same-day service.
Growing the Fleet
Added two more trucks and a dedicated team. Partnered with local charities and recycling centers to ensure responsible disposal. Reached 1,000+ happy customers across Central PA.
Franchising Begins
Launched franchising to help passionate entrepreneurs build locally-rooted junk removal businesses in their communities. Not to become another corporate giant—but to empower local owners who care.
